This week in class, we talked about social classes and cultural diversity. I found it very interesting. In class, we defined social class as the access and opportunities to get education, money, and social connections. Social classes also have very different mannerism. I liked that it was not the amount of these resources that you have but the access to them that determined what class you were in. The higher the social class the more access you have to these resources.
We talked about whether social class matters in a marriage. I feel that social class can make some difference but it depends a lot on your expectations of lifestyle. It's a problem if you have expensive taste and a small budget or if one partner has higher expectations than the other. Like if your wife expects to go out to a fancy restaurant every Friday and you work a minimum wage job and can't afford it. It is going to cause conflict. I feel that if you and your spouse are on the same page on your expectations and how to use your resources it doesn't matter if your from the same social class or different ones. If you both can communicate and compromise. What do you think?
