Hey how are we all doing? Did you enjoy the last post? This week we are going to talk a little about Parenting. We based most of our information on Michael Popkin's approach called, “Active Parenting". Popkin starts his parenting video by talking about a boat that was thought to be the best of its time but once it hit stormy seas it sank because it didn’t have ballast or weight in the bottom of the boat to stabilize it. He says that kid need ballast of character to safely sail the stormy seas of life. He says that responsibility, cooperation, resect, courage, and self-esteem are the characteristics needed to handle the challenges kids face in their life. If parents can teach these characteristics it will help our kids to become mature adults that can handle whatever life throws at them. Popkin also says that human’s first basic need is for a sense of belonging and physical contact. We need to feel that we are needed and valued, that we are loved by someone. I couldn’t agree more.
